Banhams WA Awarded EcoVadis Silver Medal for Sustainability Performance

Banhams WA is committed to embedding responsible and sustainable business practices across our building services operations in Western Australia. Our approach focuses on improving environmental, social and governance outcomes while supporting compliance, safety, operational reliability and long-term value for our clients, our people and the communities we work in.

EcoVadis Silver Medal Recognition

Banhams WA has been awarded an EcoVadis Silver Medal, recognising the quality of our sustainability management system and our commitment to responsible business practices.

EcoVadis is a globally recognised sustainability ratings platform that assesses companies across key areas including environment, labour and human rights, ethics and sustainable procurement. In our most recent assessment, published June 2026, we achieved the 90th percentile of all companies assessed and in the top 15% of businesses rated by EcoVadis in the prior 12 months.

This result reflects the work being done across the business to strengthen our systems, improve transparency and support responsible decision-making across our operations and supply chain.

For our clients, this provides added confidence that Banhams WA is continuing to invest in responsible business practices, practical improvement and stronger sustainability outcomes and that we operate as a transparent, accountable partner committed to continuous improvement.

Environment

Policies

  • Formal environmental policy covering energy consumption, greenhouse gas emissions, materials, chemicals, and waste — with quantitative targets set against each.
  • Dedicated internal responsibility assigned for environmental policy, with formal mechanisms in place to review and update it regularly.
  • Policy scope clearly defined and applied across business operations.
  • ISO 14001 certified — confirming our environmental management system meets internationally recognised standards.

Measures

  • Active reduction of carbon emissions across our transport and fleet operations.
  • Safe labelling, storage, handling, and transportation of hazardous substances, supported by employee training.
  • Internal waste reduction through material reuse, recovery, and repurposing, with structured waste sorting by stream.
  • Environmental emergency response measures established and maintained.
  • Adoption of energy-efficient construction and installation practices across field operations.

Improvement Areas

We are working to introduce formal employee training on energy conservation and climate action, explore renewable energy procurement or on-site generation, and strengthen physical climate risk assessments to build greater adaptive capacity into our operations.

Reporting

  • We report on total energy consumption, Scope 1 and Scope 2 greenhouse gas emissions (with values confirmed in supporting documentation), and total waste by type (hazardous and non-hazardous).
  • Standard reporting across key environmental indicators is in place and reviewed internally.
  • Future focus includes extending to Scope 3 emissions reporting and aligning disclosures with recognised frameworks such as GRI or IFRS.
Labor & Human Rights

Policies

  • Comprehensive formal policies covering working conditions, employee health and safety, and prevention of discrimination and harassment — all with quantitative targets set.
  • Policy scope is clearly defined, with formal review mechanisms in place.
  • ISO 45001 certified — confirming our occupational health and safety management system meets international standards.
  • Policies include grievance mechanisms for discrimination, harassment, and issues related to child and forced labour.

Measures

  • Employee health and safety risk assessments conducted regularly, with training provided on identified risks and best working practices.
  • Skills development training provided to support career progression.
  • Awareness training in place for discrimination and harassment prevention.
  • Grievance mechanisms established and accessible to all staff for reporting concerns related to discrimination, harassment, and human trafficking.

Improvement Areas

We are working to formalise documented policies on career management and training, and on child labour, forced labour, and human trafficking. Plans are underway to introduce formal health and safety emergency action plans and strengthen documentation around working hours, protective equipment, and internal mobility.

Reporting

  • We report on average training hours per employee, the proportion of women in the workforce, and workplace injury data including recordable accidents and days lost.
  • Standard internal reporting on labour and human rights indicators is maintained.
  • Future plans include aligning reporting with recognised standards and exploring external assurance over sustainability disclosures.
Ethics

Policies

  • Formal policies in place covering corruption, fraud, conflict of interest, and information security.
  • Disciplinary procedures established for policy violations, with formal review mechanisms to keep policies current.
  • Detailed practical examples provided to employees on how ethics policies apply in practice.

Measures

  • Employee training delivered on corruption and bribery prevention.
  • Approval procedures in place for sensitive transactions, including gifts and travel.
  • Whistleblower procedures available to all stakeholders for reporting concerns related to corruption, bribery, and information security.
  • Incident response procedure (IRP) established for managing breaches of confidential information.
  • Measures implemented to protect third-party data, supported by information security awareness training.

Improvement Areas

A high-priority action is the introduction of formal information security risk assessments. We are also progressing toward corruption risk assessments, and working toward ISO 27001 (information security) and ISO 37001 (anti-bribery) certifications as medium-term objectives.

Reporting

  • Standard internal reporting on ethics-related indicators and incidents is maintained.
  • Future improvements will focus on aligning ethics disclosures with recognised reporting standards and introducing external assurance.
Sustainable Procurement

Policies

  • A formal sustainable procurement policy is in place, covering supplier environmental practices, with mechanisms to review and update it.
  • A supplier sustainability code of conduct has been developed and is applied in supplier engagement.

Measures

  • Supplier assessments conducted covering both environmental and social practices.
  • Supplier sustainability code of conduct established and communicated to supply chain partners.

Improvement Areas

Sustainable procurement is our highest-priority area for improvement. Plans include extending policy to cover supplier labour and human rights practices, introducing on-site supplier audits, integrating sustainability clauses into contracts, training procurement staff on supply chain ESG risks, and conducting formal supply chain risk assessments.

Reporting

  • Sustainable procurement reporting is being developed, with plans to introduce Scope 3 upstream emissions tracking.
  • A materiality analysis will be conducted to better prioritise supply chain sustainability issues going forward.
  • Plans to align reporting with recognised sustainability standards such as GRI or IFRS.
